Damascus to Waynesboro

It’s  been a busy few hundred miles since Damascus. Been charging mountains and crushing miles. I’m feeling the best that I’ve felt on the trail yet, and am doing good mentally as well. Let’s talk PMA…

PMA is a little thing that we like to call “Positive Mental Attitude”. Whenever someone gets down, it rains, sleeping bags get wet, mountains go on forever, or blisters hurt we always tell each other “Hey man, PMA”. Mental attitude is half the battle.

One of the highlights of this section was when my good friend Jarod came down to hike 20 miles with me. It happened to plan out that I was going over McAfee knob over Memorial Day weekend and that’s when he came down. I met up with him on Saturday, we hiked 4 miles Saturday night then did 17 on Sunday. It was great to see a familiar face.

Virginia, surprisingly, has been my favorite state so far. For the record, it’s not flat, the Virginia blues is not really a thing, at least for me. The views, the farmlands, the rolling hills are remarkable. Appalachia at its finest.

Keep on pushing through Virginia, about 10 more days to Harper’s Ferry.

Key Stats:

Snakes Seen: multiple. Two rattlesnakes, one cottonmouth

Phones: still on 2, impressive huh?

Pro Hiker Tip:

Tents will dry, sleeping bags will dry. Keep on hiking
