Get Out and Hike
Hiking is inspiring in many ways. The time spent hiking helps you think, and makes you realize that our day to day problems may not be as big as we think they are. The solitude of being surrounded by nature helps us realize how simple life can be.
Everyone should try and get out and get a hike in. Hike the whites, hike your local trail, go climb Katahdin for me, but just go out and hike.
On that note, I’m currently starting to hike in Virginia. Virginia has more amount of miles on the AT than any other state. It can often times be referred to as the “Virginia Blues”. So in order to help pass some of the miles I thought I would try this (not sure how good it will work, as I most definitely haven’t thought it all the way through yet)…
Everyone who sends me a picture of them hiking over the next month or so, let’s say between now and the end of June, I will donate $5 to some sort of charity for every picture that I get (I do have a min and max amount in my head, I currently have no form of real income). So email me a picture of yourself hiking to [email protected]. Let me know the location of the hike (bonus points if you find a white blaze). I’ll even do a blog and post all of the pictures that I get. See below for an example
This benefits all parties, you will get outside have the time of your life/hopefully find some sort inspiration along your way and we can help other people at the same time. And I can have something to do while I hike in Viriginia.
If anyone has a good charity on mind please let me know. I’m thinking of an organization that takes kids hiking, or something along those lines.
