I met Charlie who hiked in 1977. He told me that he made it as far as Massachusetts and how he has seen the trail change over the years. 39 years later he is back to finish what he started. #appalachiantrials

“Hiking” in the White Mountains is known for holding some of the most difficult terrain on the entire Appalachian Trail: like rebar latters that climb up sheer rock faces that continue on as far as your eye can see! After climbing down a side trail from Mt. Jefferson to camp we ended up on the wrong end of the trail late in the afternoon on our hike off Mt. Washington. We ended up finding the right place just before dark. Hidden from the wind we spent the night near the Edmonds Col. Trail. Luckily this view made up for the frustration of the ordeal.

The most beautiful evening I’ve had in a long time, and Vermont keeps proving how beautiful it is. These past few weeks have fluctuated between enthusiastic motivation, or feeling a little sluggish. Last night was a night where a gaggle of hikers gathered, and we all shared stories. I really enjoyed SoBos telling me what to expect and all the great things ahead.
