There’s something undeniably independent about having your life on your back and a trail in front of you.

10/3: Some of the greatest people that I’ve ever met. I’m going to miss everyone and all of the crazy experiences that the Appalachian Trail has brought me, but this trail is just the beginning for my trail adventures. To being hiker trash for the past 6 1/2 months. To living in shelters, hostels, motels, and under the stars. To the snow storms, the rain storms, and the lightning storms. To the bears, the deer, the moose, the Bobcats, the porcupines, and the little critters. To drinking muddy beaver pond water as a last resort. To the mice and squirrels who battle us for our food at night. To making room for 12 in a shelter meant for 6. To eating food wherever we can find it. To not showering for weeks. To sweating, to bleeding, to crying. To our packs smelling worse than anything. To all of the hiker shoes we’ve killed this summer. To our own FEET and BACKS and LEGS that we killed this summer. To shenanigans, to camp fires, and to all the different reasons we’re all out here together. To 2.189.2 miles. To every step. To living the best life out here. #at2016#appalachiantrail2016#thruhike#thruhiker#womenwhohike#adventureheroes#hikertrash#hikingtrash#scenic#beautiful#nature#mountkatahdin#maine#hikemaine#rei#optoutside#appalachiantrials#georgiatomaine#love#blonde#hikersofinstagram#100milewilderness
