Here’s the real summit pic. I wouldn’t have made it to the top had I not met these incredible hikers, Mama Cheddar, Skywalker, and his pop Rainbow Express (not pictured). I was determined to keep pushing forward but didn’t have a plan for Katahdin this late in the season. By pure providence, we ran into each other in Gorham, NH and they told me about their harrowing Oct 23rd attempt at Katahdin and their research into guided winter summits. Had I not known about that option I would not have been able to get to the summit. I owe these guys so much. 5 1/2 months without a single other long distance NOBO encounter and then this. I owe y’all so much. The Trail Provides. #hiking #winterhiking #appalachiantrials #appalachiantrail #katahdin2016 #deathbeforeflipflop #trektheat

Hike 48/52: Deep Gap to Standing Indian Summit (~5,400ft), 5 miles round trip. I hiked Standing Indian two and a half years ago, in the dark and in the rain, so I didn’t get to see the views from the summit. I’ve been wanting to go back, so when I read that the trail was re-opened yesterday (it’s been closed since the wildfires started) I decided to make #thetrek up there. Well, we left Franklin in sunshine and summitted in a cloud, dodging sleet and freezing rain the last quarter mile to the top. It was a toasty 35-ish degrees and windy. Maybe the third time I hike it I’ll get to see the views. • • • #lovewhereyoulive #hike #trail #appalachiantrail #appalachiantrials #hikelikeagirl #adventurelikeagirl #radgirlslife #mountainwomen #unlikelyhikers #optoutside #getoutmoretour #gooutsideandplay #standardpoodle #particoloredpoodle #hikingwithdogs #adventuredog #poodle @52hikechallenge #52hikechallenge #52hikechallenge2016 #atclassof2016 #myblueridge
