AT Thru-Hikers: Want to Get on TV? Here’s Your Chance.

An award-winning production company based in New York City is looking for former, current and future thru-hikers to interview as part of a new docu-project that will follow thru-hikers planning an excursion on the historic Appalachian Trail.  This is a speculative project in development and to formally attach a network we need your help!

In this docu-series, producers will follow selected thru-hikers at various points during their AT experience. The project intends to explore everything from preparations before the hike to the physical and mental peaks, valleys and plateaus that define the trail. These selected hikers will be willing to speak openly about the realities of life on the trail and off the grid, as well as cover both the positives and negatives, successes and failures they face along the way.

At this stage in the development process, we’re looking for a diverse group of hikers to engage in 10-15 minute recorded Skype or FaceTime interviews. Those interviews will be used to create both a tapestry of personalities and experiences on the trail as well as serve as an initial casting session for the forthcoming docu-series described above.

If you have already hiked the Appalachian Trail we’d love to hear your story as you probably have some of the highest-octane insight concerning life on the AT. We’d be grateful for your consummate perspective.  Likewise, if you have yet to take the trek, we’d love to learn more about your travel plans and why you want to hike the AT.  In our short interviews, we’ll ask you questions such as, how did you prepare for the journey? What really happens in the thick of it? Are you traveling with a group or partner or fulfilling your dream solo?  Be prepared to share your story, albeit in brief.

If you’re willing to open up about your hiking experiences, write to us about it at [email protected] to be considered and we’ll be in touch!
