My Simplified Resupply Strategy

Preparation plays an essential part in a thru-hike starting smoothly. Some preparation has proven to be fun and exciting: researching, purchasing and testing new gear, getting into top physical condition, making new connections with hikers, and sharing stories and experiences. On the other hand, some preparation has seemed daunting. In my case, that included my resupply strategy. Especially as an international hiker who doesn’t have the luxury of having friends and family sending packages from home.

After taking into consideration a half-dozen recent thru-hikers and resources (mentioned below) this is my current resupply strategy. I’ll be sending myself all my mailed boxes from earlier on the trail.

    Hi Curtis, hope to see you out there! I know it’s not a race, but you might burn a lot of time getting into and out of some of those resupplies. I did Campo to Wrightwood last year, and stretched my resupplies to 4 or 5 days, it saved a lot of hitching time.
