Day 41-44: I know in the past two weeks I have mentioned getting out of the desert in pretty much every post but you won’t have to see that any more because are out!!! Finally, after 6 weeks, 702 miles and many, many packets of Raman we are in Kennedy Meadows! It was an amazing experience watching the landscape change from bare, brown mountains with only shrubs and cactus to cliffy mountains with forests and pine needle floors. I am so fucking stoked to be in Sequoia National Forest and I can’t wait to share more of these experiences over the next 3.5 months. We are going to be hanging out at the Kennedy Meadows General Store (if you’ve seen Wild you should know all about it) for the rest of today, drinking cold beers, smokin fatties and eatin aaaallllll the foods! Tomorrow we will get back on the trail, with rested feet, clean clothes and a fresh ‘tude. We’ll be rollin’ out of Kennedy Meadows this morning after two nice days of rest. Bear cans, ice axes and microspikes are the new additions to our gear setup along with warmer clothes and bug repellant. So excited for the change in scenery! Catch ya later desert ?

The desert was hot, we waited for the sun to slowly go behind the mountains before we would hike into the night. There was no water in sight and there was little to no shade during the days. The desert is beautiful, brutal and full of surprises. But the days went by and now I’m 700 miles in and on to a bigger and whole new mountain range. The Sierras. Still hiking. But I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more, just to be the man who walks a thousand miles just to get to the Sierras and out of this crazy desert!! . . We are 650 miles in and can practically TASTE Kennedy Meadows! The celebration is going to be insane. S. Cali. has been beautiful and we’ve had some wild experiences, but it has been a battle and a half and has taken its toll. We are ready to see rivers, snow and clouds again and get up into the high country! Super thankful to have made it this far without injury and praising God for this opportunity to experience his creation in such a unique way. #pacificcresttrail #mexicotocanada #livewild
