Happy Days – Trail Edition

After writing a post all about being miserable I wanted to brainstorm a list of some of the simple things that make thru-hikers happy. Here’s what I came up with.

-Sunny days

-No bugs

-Trail magic

-Gradual ups and gradual downs

-The perfect tree limb for bear hangs

-Bear cables so you don’t have to do a hang

-A privy (maybe even with a door)

-The perfect tree to pee behind

-The first shower in town

-Flat (or close to flat) tenting spots

-Beautiful lunch spots

-Camping with the tramily each night

-Meeting dogs on the trail

There are so many things that make thru-hiking amazing, but these are just a few. My thru-hiking experience has been full of both negatives and positives but so far the positives outweigh the negatives. It’s all about who you surround yourself with and what your mind-set is.
