Lists Out
These are my lists to remind myself why Im hiking from Georgia to Maine. They will be with me from Springer to Katahdin. Thank you Zach Davis for writing the kick ass book- APPALACHIAN TRIALS -and inspiring me to write these lists! If you havent read it, you seriously should!
I am thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail because
- I can
- I want to push myself
- I dont believe in waiting. Go do what you want youre living now
- Living a mundane life scares the shit out of me
- I love being outside and the mountains make me happy
- I am so done with writing papers in MLA and APA format
- I always love a good adventure
- I really want to see wild ponies
- I want to prove to myself that I can do anything I set my mind to
- Its there and thats enough for me
When I successfully thru-hike the Appalachian Trail I will .
- BE SO PROUD OF MYSELF
- Have accomplished exactly what I set out to do
- Have had an incredible adventure with my mom
- Have met tons of wicked cool people
- Have overcome my current fear of pooping in the woods
- Never be mad if my car breaks down ever again, cause Ill just walk 17 miles like it aint no thang
- Have walked a hole through one of my Darn Tough socks???- A seemingly impossible feat (pun intended), that Im determined to take on
- Have gained so much life experience
- Have probably cried into a bowl of Ramen at least once
- Have some of the best memories of my life
- Have achieved something that no one can take away from me
- Start planning my next adventure
- Summit Katahdin
If I give up on the Appalachian Trail, I will
- Eat a lot of pizza and cry
- Let myself down, like seriously insurmountably disappoint myself
- Even worse let my mom down, who is hiking with me
- Be part of a statistic I really dont want to be apart of
- Have to tell everyone that I didnt make it
- Not be living up to my potential
- Have some really sad gear that will stare at me from the corner of my room
- Wasted an opportunity a lot of people dont have
- Repeat bullet point one several times
Thanks for reading friends! I’m wicked excited to finish my last semester of college and start the AT; 121 days until I fly down to Georgia to begin my NOBO thru-hike! What is even happening? (SCREAMING)
