Rain, Rain, Go Away!
I made it 100 miles! So how were my first ten days on trail? Filled with trail magic, neros, and new friends. As well as unexpected changes.
I knew better than to come out here with an expectation of how my hike would pan out but I surely didnt expect consistent days of rain. But it has resulted in some hysterical memories and awesome town stays. Its also made the sunny days that much more amazing.
I cant thank the trail angels enough for everything they do for the hikers. I specifically want to thank Jimmy, I Believe, Fresh Ground, and Snap for making the first week scaries so much easier. Oh, and for keeping us well fed.
This journey so far has been anything but easy and Id be lying if I said I never thought, What the hell am I doing out here? But Im so grateful for every minute out here on trail. Its not supposed to be easy.
Well be entering the Smokies in a couple of days and Im ready to kick some mountain butt!

It rained so much my first week on the trail last year, too! Broke all of us new thruhikers in real fast! Looking forward to following your hike. Hope you get some sunshine soon!
Way to go Lexi! Embrace the suck and Enjoy nature and it’s beauty to the fullest. Hope your loving every moment! I’m jealous! Go mountaineers!
I found singing rain songs helps – Who’ll Stop The Rain, Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall, When the Levee Breaks, etc.
duuuuuuuuuude how’s it going?
It seems early March starters just eat shit no matter what. How are you handling the weather?
