Trail Update: Days 35-59
Ok, so … it’s been awhile since an update. I’m throwing out the old format and give a brief overview of what has been happening out on the trail.
Crossing “the bubble” and The Whites
Our story last left off with our summit of Mt. Washington. The night we stayed at the Lake of the Clouds hut was the night we started to cross the NoBo bubble. Everyday we would cross paths with 50+ thru-hikers. We met so many cool people.
The Whites in pictures:
Vermont
Once we got through the Whites, the terrain became much easier and we have since picked up our pace. We crossed the state line and entered into Vermont.
We both really enjoyed the change of scenery and the cushy pine covered trail.
Blackberries in the area started to ripen, perfect for snacking! Every powerline clearing we came to there would be a ton of bushes.
At the top of one of the climbs, we came to a “rock garden.” So many non-directional cairns!
Massachusetts
I plain and simply have not been writing down everything that has been happening, or taking as many pictures. We are now averaging 18-20 mile days.
Today we got a ride into Great Barrington, MA to resupply. It’s looking like we will be in CT as early as tomorrow (we will see how motivated we are when we leave town).
Until next time… Happy trails 🙂
